Fall festivities would not be complete without pumpkins and corn mazes! This is not a problem when visiting the North Fork of Long Island. Guests of the Shorecrest Inn will be delighted to find that the choices available to them are endless.
Krupski’s Vegetable and Pumpkin Farm is located in Peconic and take great delight in their haunted corn maze. On weekends they even have actors and always seem to be adding a few new twists and turns to it. It is not gory, but it certainly is scary. They take delight in even causing fright in the broad daylight, which they boast is their goal. After a trip through the corn maize, make sure to visit their pumpkin patch, enjoy their farm fresh product or take a hay ride.
Another of the local favorite farms is Harbes Family Farm. They actually have three locations with one in Mattituck, Jamesport, and Riverhead. They celebrate the Fall Season with a large corn mazes, hayrides on weekends, and a haunted barn. Each location features a different corn maze varying from 2-8 acres. Mattituck’s maze is 2 acres and has the theme of The Wizard of Oz; Jamesport’s maze is 8 acres and has the theme of the Wild West; and Riverhead’s maze is 5 acres and has the theme of Middle Earth. Of course, we should not forget to mention that cornstalks, hay, and Indian corn are also available. The Jamesport location also features a wine barn tasting of local wines Tuesday thru Thursday from 12-6 P.M. and Friday thru Monday from 11-6 P.M.
Krupski’s is located in Peconic and their maze is open noon until 6 P.M. all weekends through October, including Columbus Day and costs $8.00 per person. Harbes Family Farm’s corn mazes are open weekends and holidays from September 19th through November 1st from 9 A.M. until 6 P.M. Their night maze is open Friday and Saturday evenings in October from 7 until 9 P.M. Fees range from $9.95 to $11.95.
