Great Food, Live Music & More, May 3rd and 4th
So much is happening this weekend!
For fine dining at a discount, enjoy Restaurant Week’s final days. For a listing of participants and my special offer, check out my previous post.
Beyond inexpensive fine dining, there’s a wide range of live music, art openings, and food, farm & vineyard treats happening up and down the North Fork on the East End of Long Island. Full listings follow the summary.
If you’re a foodie or just want to get closer to the land, tour an organic farm, sample food and chat with the farmer. Or play winemaker for a day. Or perhaps you’d rather craft your own vinegar and vinaigrette with locally grown ingredients.
If live music is what moves you, you’ve plenty of choices. On Saturday afternoon, several vineyards are showcasing musicians. Unfortunately, a lot of the shows happen at the same time, so you can’t do them all. On Sunday a couple of vineyards offer more live music, plus there’s a special, non-vineyard concert.
If you’d rather spend your time in galleries, gazing at beauty, this weekend features two art openings. One features modernist paintings and one urban photography. In addition there’s a fun ongoing exhibit.
And if you’re coming from New York City (or any other urban area) you know that one of the nicest features of the East End is that it gets properly dark at night, making stargazing fun. So on Saturday, from dark to midnight, you can visit the Custer Institute observatory in Southold for a guided tours of the heavens, clouds permitting. Details.
