This is the third in a series of articles I am writing about a group of stores in Southold town and the second store I am blogging about. This blog is about the boutique store “Coast,” which is located one store west of Beckwith on Main in the heart of Southold town. As the name implies, this adorable little store focuses on the seashore and beach and all things associated with it. Think beach glass, driftwood, pictures of the seaside and sea creatures of all kinds. A shelf of open-mouthed fish jugs in at least 8 different colors caught my eye as I walked into the small but well-appointed space. I overheard another patron saying “I have never spent so much time in such a small store!” It seems proprieter Maggie Merrill specializes in rustic signs on driftwood and will custom create them to your order. She also sells on etsy https://www.etsy.com/shop/CoastalEffects, has a nice Facebook pagehttps://www.facebook.com/coastaleffects, Pinterst http://www.pinterest.com/coastaleffects/coastal-effects-on-etsy/site and Tweets https://twitter.com/coastaleffects.
I think if I had wandered into this store after a great day on the beach, I would go into a fresh salt air and sun kissed skin induced buying spree! Maggie was so sweet, very helpful and accommodating. The shop offers the perfect accouterments for a beach themed room, a great accent or just a momento of your weekend at the beach on the North Fork.
