The annual yard sale held by the Southold Historical Society in my village of Southold is legend and easily on of the best of the North Fork. People say they put it on their calendars months in advance just so they will not miss it. Come and decide for yourself!
You will find furniture, antiques, porcelain, pottery, glass, silver, jewelry, household goods, books, photographs, paper, bottles, kitchen items, and a host of other material that we collect over the course of an entire year!
The yard sale is:
Saturday, June 9 from 8am to 2pm
on the Prince Building Porch at
54325 Main Rd. in Southold.
Another ‘not to be missed’ event is the Annual Candlelight Holiday Tour. The Southold Historical Society will host the tour this year at the Museum grounds on the Main Road opposite the Firehouse on Friday November 23, 2012 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. All buildings will be decorated for the holiday season and open to the public.
Farm and home craft demonstrations will take place in the various buildings, strolling musicians will be on the grounds, Santa will be visiting, and refreshments will be served. The annual tree lighting at 5:00 p.m. will be accompanied by caroling led by the Southold High School Chorus Ensemble. No admission charge, donations accepted.
This is a great activity to get you into the holiday spirit while you are enjoying your stay at the Shorecrest Bed and Breakfast.
Check out the Southold Historical Society website for more information on their activities, to visit their online shop or to learn about the historic legacy of Southold Township and village, one of the earliest settlements in New England.
