We wanted to keep our guests informed about some of the new places popping up on the North Fork. The summer season brings the North fork to life. Here are some big updates & upcoming events.

DSC_1040

Kontokosta Winery: Kontokosta is Greenport’s first winery and the only winery on the North Fork that is actually on the Sound. You can see the Sound from the tasting room. If you feel so inclined you can even walk to the endge of the bluff and look out onto the beach and the Sound. It is trully a relaxing and beautiful way to drink wine. We are so happy to welcome them to the North Fork. Aside the the view the entire building is made from repurposed materials and runs on wind power!

cookout02

Shelter Island BBQ @ The Pridwin: Every Wednesday night until Labor Day the Pridwin hosts a BBQ Cookout like no other. They feature live music and an all-you-can-eat cookout menu. You can take the Shelter Island Ferry over or go by boat because they have dock space but it is first come, first serve. If you plan on going just call ahead so there’s enough food for everyone! It is something you won’t experience anywhere else, a definite “must” for travelers and townies alike. “For Claudia Purita, sustainability and self-reliance have always been a way of life. At her father, Domenico’s, side she learned to value the land and the fruits that it provides. After moving to Long Island and spending several years in the restaurant industry, Claudia decided it was time to “return to her roots.”
