Last Chance to Enjoy Amazing Music at LI Winterfest’s Jazz on the Vine!

Last weekend I was able to fit in going to a Jazz on the Vine Event! On Sunday I went with some friends to Jamesport Vineyards  to hear Montana Skies,an amazing cello/guitar fusion combo. They did covers by Pink Floyd, the Animals and the Beatles to name a few, with an extremely creative, clever and energetic arrangement. I was intrigued by their music when I posted a clip on this blog last week of the Nocturne, which was written for them by Roberto Di Marino. The soulful beauty of the piece drew me in, and I was so happy to hear it performed live. The setting was intimate, and before and during breaks you were invited to meet the performers who were gracious and informative. We were treated to Jennifer’s performances on a 6 string electric Cello in their rendition of the House of the Rising Sun, which blew our minds. How fortunate I was to be able to listen to such gorgeous music in the beautiful rustic setting of the Jamesport Vineyard while sipping a glass of their delicious Cabernet Franc. If you would like to hear more of their music go to their Youtube channel or order one of their CD’s from their website.

And, because of the snowstorm we had during the first week, this weekend will be the last of the LI Winterfest. So you have one more weekend to take in some great music in some beautiful vineyard settings. Don’t miss this opportunity, because although the vineyards offer music all year long, Jazz on the Vine is a virtual smorgasbord of incredible music.

In most cases, admission prices includes a glass of wine and a chance to win a gift basket of Long Island wines, not to mention an afternoon of great jazz performances.

The term “Jazz” in Jazz on the Vine is used in the loosest of ways and includes traditional, modern and ragtime jazz as well as show tunes and standards from the classic American songbook. Sipping wine and listing to this amazing live music will be the pinnacle of your romantic east end get away.

But best of all… Winterfest coincides with Shorecrest’s Winter Romance getaway package. It’s $475 for a two nights stay and runs through April 2013. It’s good for any room and the package includes:

• A 2 night stay at Shorecrest Bed and Breakfast plus:

• $20 towards dinner for two at one of our favorite restaurants, either the Frisky Oyster, First and South or Noah’s in Greenport

• 2 x $50 gift certificates towards a one hour aromatherapy massage for each guest (non refundable and use optional)
