On Saturday, May 17, 12-5pm at the Greenport Tourist Information Booth on the Main Road in Greenport, the North Fork Promotional Council turned the season opening of the booths and distribution of the North Fork Directory into an event called “Taste the North Fork.” The event was designed to showcase the North Fork’s best kept secrets from the farms, vines, sea and land.
At scheduled intervals, booths went up featuring; farmers produce including North Fork Table Food Truck, Taste of the North Fork & cHarissa, Race Rock Oysters, Goodale Farms, Garden Fusion, Invincible Summer Farms, Southold School Garden, Browder’s Birds, Blue Duck Bakery.
Local winemakers including Mattabella Vineyards Chris Tobin, Mark Tobin and Maryse Bransfield. Raphael Vineyards Joann DeAngelo poured a selection of their wines.
Chefs also offered samples of dishes they make for their local restaurants and local businesses were featured as well.

Chef Rosa Ross of Scrimshaw restaurant in Greenport, offered tastes of some of the dishes she prepares for her menu.
From noon to 5, spanning the course of the event, the North Fork Bed and Breakfast Association had a booth, giving everyone the opportunity to “meet the innkeepers” and answer questions about our bed and breakfasts.

Marilyn Marks and Sylvia Daley were a few of the many B&B owners who were featured at the NFBBA booth and available to chat and answer questions during the “meet the innkeepers” segment at the event.
We offered homemade cookies, beverages and treats and enjoyed speaking with everyone that stopped by.
The weather cooperated and the effect was that of a multi-faceted farmers market featuring the best of what the North Fork has to offer. It was a lot of fun, and a great opportunity to meet and network with local business owners.
