North Fork Fall: Live Music Edition (Not Just Weekends!)

October 21st, 2018 by Abigail Field

The cover photo is a recent live music show at Green Hill Kitchen

The North Fork is famous for its farm fresh food and many vineyards, but its live music scene is less well known. That will change now that Green Hill Kitchen is bringing the quality and intimacy of the South Fork’s famous Stephen Talkhouse to Greenport. Not that Green Hill is the only venue in town–during the summer vineyards, restaurants, parks, churches and libraries hold dozens of shows a week. But Green Hill will bring bigger names more consistently to the North Fork, and will do it year round.

Other great fall music venues include Greenport Harbor Brewing’s Peconic beer garden, and Lieb Cellars’ Oregon Road tasting room. Spontaneous, intimate fun in the form of open mics and impromptu gigs happens at Southold’s North Fork Taps and Corks, Cutchogue’s Touch of Venice, and even Green Hill.

Shorecrest is located conveniently close to all of these dynamic, delicious places. So book your room now, then pick the live music act you want to hear during your dinner. (Breakfast is on us, of course!)

Fall Live Music Details

Green Hill Kitchen offers a full week of music, every week:

Tuesday: Open Mic Dinner 7pm-10pm
Wednesday: Jazz Jam Dinner  7pm-10pm
Thursday: Latin Night Dinners 7pm-10pm
Friday: Live background music 6:30pm-8:45pm. Original Music band 9pm-11:30pm
Saturdays: Live background music 6:30pm-8:45pm. Original Music band 9pm-11:30pm.

There’s no cover, and if you just want to come have a drink and listen, that’s great. But tables are reserved for people who are dining too.

Understand, these are top flight musicians–here’s the line up of last Wednesday’s Jazz Jam. Check out their instagram for details. If you can, have dinner while you enjoy the music, their farm fresh food has garnered rave reviews. Note: to finish renovating the kitchen and the acoustics, Green Hill will close some time in December or January. But all fall long, the above schedule holds.

Greenport Harbor Brewing offers live music most Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons. Friday October 21 they’re hosting Points East. Now that Greenport Harbor has added a terrific chef, it’s a great place to drink, dine and dance. Check out who’s playing on their website.

Lieb Cellars on Oregon Road hosts musicians Friday night and Sunday afternoon throughout October and November, and on Fridays and Saturdays in December. They offer cheese and other nice noshes to compliment your wine as you enjoy the music. It’s not a dancing venue, but the music’s great and the scenery beautiful. Check out who is playing when here.

North Fork Taps and Corks has a well established open mic every Wednesday starting at 7 pm, and is a great place to pop in if all you’d like to do is drink while you enjoy the music, or if you’d like to bring in take out from a nearby restaurant.

Touch of Venice is a great restaurant, and in season they host bands regularly. But in the off season you’re in for a more spontaneous treat. Musicians like [name] will just strike up a kind of karaoke at the bar, say, on a Wednesday evening. We had the pleasure of stumbling into the phenomena after dinner last week. You won’t find out about it on their website, you’ll just have to be there.

So book your room now, and have fun exploring the delicious venues.
