During your Shorecrest stay, visit our many cultural institutions, savor our foodie culture and vineyards, and enjoy nature with our beautiful beaches and parks. But also check our Events Calendar, as throughout the year–peaking in summer and fall–special events are happening most days and nights.

Special Events: Live Music

Live music is the most common special event, whether Greenport’s Dances in the Park on Monday nights, or Jamesport Vineyards’ Jazz on the Vine featuring top talent three times a summer, the Rites of Spring featuring cutting edge classical performances each April, May and June, or small shows in wineries, restaurants year round. We list our favorites in the calendar, but in truth there’s too many to list.

Special Events: Art

The North Fork has many art galleries, and each offers opening receptions, artists’ talks, and other special events. For information on the galleries generally, check out our culture post. For the special events though, head to our calendar.

Special Events: Outdoor Fun

In addition to swimming, hiking, biking, kayaking, water boarding, fishing and more, when you visit the North Fork, you can cruise to a lighthouse. Or stargaze at Long Island’s oldest observatory on Saturday nights, birdwatch with a vibrant Audubon chapter, or join a nature program hosted by Group for the East End. And much more.

Special Events: Festivals

Carnivals and festivals make a regular appearance on the North Fork. In June, it’s the Strawberry Festival in Mattituck. Come July, Greenport hosts a multi-day carnival for the 4th, complete with fireworks. In September, Greenport hosts the Maritime Festival. Also in September, take the North Fork Foodie Tour, which is a festival of sorts–a great way to know our farmers and food artisans. Thanksgiving Weekend, the Southold Historical Society kicks off the holiday season with a candlelight tour that’s so big and festive it belongs in this category. December brings Greenport’s Shellabration.

Special Events: Car Shows

Organizations from the Cutchogue Lions to the VFW and the Cutchogue-New Suffolk Historical Society organize car shows that feature many gorgeous vehicles. If that’s your thing, plan your visit around one of the shows.

Bottom line: When you come to the North Fork, you’ll have many unique opportunities to pick from. That is, if you want to *do* anything besides decompress and enjoy the peace, quiet, dark skies and fresh air. Regardless, book your room knowing you’ll be able to enjoy your stay thoroughly.
